Flora says she wants all the new buildings and parks like everybody else, but she says, "This is not the time for spending and increasing taxes. We can look at the City as a family: we can't all get everything we want all the time. We have to wait sometimes."
We are in a pandemic economic recovery. Inflation is 4.7 %. Interest rates on our mortgages are slated to go up in the new year. Families, and especially seniors and others on fixed incomes, are under financial stress right now. It's more important to Flora to take the next year to plan the economic recovery and then plan spending and increased taxes when we are, as a city, in a better position.
